NAMI Programs in Spanish in Contra Costa County
A Latino family with a member living with mental illness may lack information and feel hopeless due to language and cultural barriers, including misconceptions.
The family may feel lonely, helpless and desperate. Strong social stigma prevents them from living life as usual or getting community support. With the above understanding and with a service mentality, we established a Latinx team at NAMI CC. Our goal is to support Latinos with mental illness and their families, even if they are in a difficult situation, so they can find hope and resources.
We offer these programs in Spanish: professional mental health workshops, support groups and courses such as Family to Family, etc. Attending any of these NAMI CC activities is free. We sincerely hope that Latino/Latinx families who have loved ones living with mental illness will participate in all of these programs to help their families and themselves.
