Training Details
Our Five-Module Weekly Hybrid Class will be held on five consecutive Tuesdays from September 16th through October 14th, 5:30 p.m. – 6:45 p.m. over the course of five weeks.
Module Topics
In Module I, Volunteer Orientation and History of NAMI CC
- Learn NAMI Contra Costa’s History and Structure
- Learn about Volunteer Opportunities within the NAMI Contra Costa Organization (Including Each Signature Program)
- Learn about the NAMI CC Support Network
- Understand the Role of the Volunteer
- Understand Self-Care, Boundaries, and Upcoming Training Modules
In Module II, Mental Health 101 you will:
- Familiarize yourself with the 5 Most Common Mental Illness Diagnosis
- Familiarize yourself with common symptoms and early warning signs
- Find ways to help you understand and support families
In Module III Crash Course, Navigating the Behavioral Health Care System in Contra Costa
- Learn information regarding the Behavioral Health Care System in Contra Costa
- Receive an overview of the Crash Course
In Module IV, Better Understanding of Conservatorship and Other
- Legislation and Criminal Justice Issues
- Community Care, LPS Conservatorships & Criminal Justice Concerns
- HIPAA Laws & Laura’s Law
- LPS Conservatorships
- Criminal Justice Mental Health — Behavioral Health Court (BHC)
