We are calling for a mass mobilization of East Contra Costa County residents, community-based organizations, and local stakeholders to demand that Supervisor Burgis host a County Community Impact Fund town hall in the city of Antioch. Each county supervisor is hosting ARPA town halls, also known as the “County’s Community Impact Fund Town Halls”. They will be happening across Contra Costa County through the first week of October. Our concern is that Supervisor Diane Burgis is only hosting one opportunity for District 3 residents to show up and offer input as to where $1 million should be spent. Her one scheduled town hall will be in the city of Oakley on September 25th, 2025, from 6:00-7:30pm at the Oakley Recreation Center (1250 O’Hara Ave, Oakley, CA 94561). In communication with her, she says her approach is to interview individuals, CBOs, and other entities to gather information about how those dollars should be spent. If you live in East Contra Costa County, you know how important it is for us to have easier access and not to have barriers in place that make it difficult for our voices to be heard.
This may be our only chance to influence how $1 million of the Contra Costa American Rescue Plan Act funds will be allocated in District 3. So, let’s show up, speak out, and ensure our community’s needs and priorities are heard on September 25, 2025, in Oakley. While in attendance, share your discontent with not having the opportunity to have more voices heard in a safe environment near your home. Each of the other Supervisors has scheduled or has already facilitated 3 or more town halls in their Districts, recognizing the need for going to the people rather than asking residents to come to them. Supervisor John Gioia of District 1 with host 6 town halls, with one focusing exclusively on youth.
