Meeting Description
In 2008, inspired by Campbell’s charge to end stigma and provide mental health support for BIPOC communities, July was designated as the Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month by the U.S. House of Representatives. There have been recent attempts to change the month’s name, but at NAMI CC, we continue to recognize the importance of honoring Bebe Moore Campbell’s incredible legacy and groundbreaking work in helping to shift the mental health culture in under served communities.
At this month’s General Meeting, we are excited that our guest speaker will be Daryl Graves, our 2nd Vice President of the NAMI CC Board of Directors. Daryl has a background in computer software and hardware engineering and brings a unique perspective to DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity, and Belonging) initiatives. He considers himself a student in this life journey, striving to make each day better than the last for himself and others. Seven years ago, he made a mid-career pivot into DEIB from his technology career. Daryl previously reported to a Chief Diversity Officer and led diversity efforts at a startup. Daryl has founded, supported, and led employee resource groups (ERGs), amongst other initiatives. He resides in Northern California / Discovery Bay with his wife Nikki, 12-year-old girl/boy twins, two rabbits (sisters), and two goldendoodles (brother/sister)!
