What is the NAMI Basics Education Program?
NAMI BASICS is for parents or caregivers with children (youth up to age 22) and adolescents with emotional and behavioral difficulties. No diagnosis necessary. Learn about the illnesses that are causing challenges and the critical role families play in the treatment of those illnesses. Other topics covered include red flags, communication approaches, and school issues. The free six week program is taught by trained teachers who are also the parents or family caregivers of individuals who experienced emotional or behavioral difficulties during childhood or adolescence.
Participant Perspectives
This is such a great step by step program that walks parents every step of the way. It is as if you are holding their hand through it all.
NAMI Basics bridges the gap. It provided help that can’t be found in a doctors’ office.
The course in inclusive and almost all aspects of the family and child resources. I could of spent a lifetime getting all this information on my own. I feel supported and strong, ready to go forward.
