About Us - NAMI Contra Costa

Mission Statement - To provide support, outreach, education and advocacy to individuals living with and families impacted by mental illness. 

NAMI Contra Costa is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization providing outreach, education, support and advocacy to families and individuals in need of help dealing with mental illness. We have been assisting people and families impacted by mental illness in Contra Costa for over 30 years. All our programs are free, so get involved today and help make a difference in your life, others’ lives, and in the local community. 

NAMI Contra Costa is an affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. We are unique in our independence with long history of helping families/loved of those impacted by mental illness along with individuals living with mental illness.

NAMI Contra Costa was named the 2023 California Nonprofit of the Year.

Join us for an afternoon of community support and solidarity on March 29th from 11 AM to 2 PM! Our event, heart of the community (Corazon de la Comunidad) will have information on mental health services and legal support, food, and more.
Assemblywoman Anamarie Avila Farias nominated our CEO, Gigi R. Crowder, L.E., for "California Woman of the Year" for Assembly District 15. On March 10, 2025, Gigi along with other honorees will participate in a ceremony in Sacramento.

Thank you for joining us this year for our annual Crab Feed fundraising event! We enjoyed spending the cherished evening all attendees. This year, went all out to bring you a fun and fabulous Crab Feed Fundraiser with auctions, games, and plenty of crab! Click Read More for more details.
On the day following the Crab Feed, March 3, 2025, we will be opening our office later than usual to give our staff and community members time to rest. Instead, we will be opening our doors at 12 PM on March 3rd.
Please be advised that the NAMI CC (National Alliance on Mental Illness, Contra Costa) office will be closed on Friday, December 13, 2024, for our Annual Staff Retreat.

NAMI CC Office Contact

NAMI Contra Costa will continue to assist in-person and online. Following the recommendation of the Contra Costa Health Department as of August 6, 2024, we ask visitors to  wear a mask when visiting our office and that you do not visit in-person if you have any sick symptoms. Common symptoms listed by the Contra Costa Health Department include the following:

  • Fever
  • Congestion
  • Sore Throat
  • Fatigue

We host the majority of our groups on Zoom, but some are hybrid Zoom and In-Person. To find out if your group is going to be in-person or hybrid, please check the NAMI CC Calendar for all group offerings and our Zoom Support Groups page for online groups.

Learn more about mental health as a peer, parent, family member, or as a loved one.

Mental Health Crash Course (MHCC)

On Wednesdays from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The Mental Health Crash Course's seminar acts as an orientation to the mental health field. No registration required.

Family-to-Family (F2F)

A free, 8-session educational program for family, significant others and friends of people living with mental illness. This course is available in English, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.

Basics

A free, six-session program designed for parents and other family caregivers of children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral difficulties. These classes, all on Zoom, are available in English, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish.

Peer-to-Peer (P2P)

A free, 8-session educational program for adults with mental illness who are looking to better understand their condition and journey toward recovery. Peer-to-Peer is only available in English.

NAMI Contra Costa recognizes that the need for support is greater post-COVID. Please check Events then NAMI CC Calendar for information. While most NAMI CC groups are online via Zoom, there are some non-NAMI CC groups that are not. Please contact the group leaders for more details.
